web design Berkshire

Senior-led websites that help Berkshire businesses win users, build trust and grow.

  • Trusted by businesses across Berkshire and the surrounding counties.
  • Google reviews

CobwebMedia is based in Basingstoke, sitting right on the Hampshire and Berkshire border, so we work with businesses across the county, from Reading and Wokingham to Newbury and beyond.

We design and build bespoke, conversion-focused WordPress and ecommerce websites shaped by research, brand thinking and clear goals.

CobwebMedia founders Chris and Andy reviewing a website project together.

Why work with CobwebMedia?

CobwebMedia is deliberately small, so the people you speak to are the people doing the work. Andy and Chris lead projects directly, bringing research, design thinking and custom WordPress development together without junior hand-offs or studio managers. That continuity, and the long-term support that follows, is why clients stay with us.

  • Senior-led from start to finish.
  • Andy and Chris, directly involved.
  • No junior hand-offs or studio managers.
  • Research-led design, long-term support.

What we do

Senior-led web design, WordPress and creative support for Berkshire businesses wanting a bespoke site, not a template.

Our approach.

Good websites don't start with layouts. They start with understanding your business, your users and what the site must achieve.

That thinking then shapes the structure, messaging, design and the WordPress build, so every decision has a clear purpose.

Across Berkshire, you deal directly with the people planning, designing and building your site, with the very same faces throughout.

One senior-led process, from first discovery to launch.
  • Research-led

We begin by understanding your users, goals and content needs.

  • UX-focused

Journeys, structure and messaging built around what users need to do next.

  • Brand-aware

Design responds to your positioning, not just personal taste.

  • Built properly

Custom WordPress development that stays fast, flexible and easy for you to manage.

web design across Berkshire

We work with SMEs, start-ups and established businesses right across Berkshire, from Reading and Wokingham to Newbury and Bracknell. Although we are based just over the border in Basingstoke, distance has rarely been an issue. Every client still gets senior-led web design, custom WordPress development and long-term support, wherever they are.

we’re often asked...

  • Do you work with businesses across Berkshire, even though you're based in Basingstoke?

Yes. CobwebMedia is based in Basingstoke, right on the Hampshire and Berkshire border, and we regularly work with businesses throughout Berkshire, including Reading, Wokingham and Newbury. We don’t have a separate Berkshire office, and in practice we rarely need one. Most of the process happens through a mix of face-to-face conversations, calls and screen shares, so where you’re based has very little bearing on how closely we collaborate or on the quality of the work.

  • Who will actually work on my website?

You’ll work directly with Andy and Chris, the two people who run CobwebMedia. Andy leads the research, UX, design and brand thinking, while Chris handles the custom WordPress development and technical build. There are no account managers, studio managers or junior designers in between, so the people you speak to at the start are the same people creating the work and supporting it later on. That continuity is a deliberate choice, and it is one of the main reasons clients tend to stay with us.

  • How much does a new website cost?

It depends on the scope. Every website we build is bespoke, so the cost reflects the size of the site, the depth of research and design involved, and whether you need extras such as ecommerce, motion or ongoing content support. Rather than quoting a generic figure, we prefer to understand what you’re trying to achieve first, then give you a clear, itemised estimate with no hidden surprises. The best starting point is a short, no-pressure conversation about your project.

  • How long does a typical project take?

Most website projects run over a few months rather than a few weeks, with a typical build often taking somewhere around three to four months from discovery to launch. The exact timeline depends on the size of the site, how quickly feedback and content come together, and how much branding or research is needed upfront. We agree a realistic schedule with you at the start and keep progress clear throughout, so you can plan any launch, campaign or event around it with confidence.

  • Can you build an online shop or ecommerce site?

Yes. We build ecommerce sites using WooCommerce, which sits on top of WordPress and gives you a flexible, well-supported way to sell products or services online. As with everything we do, the store is designed around how your customers actually browse and buy, with clear journeys and calls to action rather than a cluttered, off-the-shelf template. Whether you’re selling a single product or managing a larger catalogue, we shape the build around what makes sense for your business.

  • Can you help with branding and content, not just the website?

Yes. Brand discovery is built into our web design process, so we help clarify your positioning, messaging and identity as part of the project rather than treating it as an afterthought. We can also produce supporting assets such as motion graphics and animated brand elements where they add value. On the content side, we guide the structure and messaging, and we often set up a custom tool trained on your brand so you can keep producing on-brand copy long after launch. It all comes from the same senior-led team.

  • What happens after the website launches?

Launch is the start of the relationship rather than the end of it. We offer ongoing support and maintenance, including updates, monitoring and security-conscious upkeep, along with any further development as your business grows. Because Andy and Chris built the site in the first place, you are never re-explaining your business to someone new or waiting on an unfamiliar team. Improvements can be made quickly and confidently by the people who already understand how everything works.
