Anniversary of the Original iPhone Launch
On the 29th June 2007 Apple released the iPhone and revolutionised the delivery of technology through the use of a smartphone, with a solution that was years ahead of its time. Since the launch of the original iPhone and the subsequent models that have followed, Apple have provided us with pioneering technology and performance, features beyond our imagination and have sold over 500million of the innovative hand-held devices in the years that have passed.
The impact of the new release from Apple bought us 24/7 connectivity and changed the way we use our phones and the internet, offering unprecedented web browser functionality and enabling us to manage calls, email and messages, contacts, calendars, photos, videos and music anytime anywhere. It removed our reliance of an office or home based computer to carry out these tasks and the restrictions of access associated with them, and as a far wider audience were now able to benefit from using Wi-Fi, the iPhone proved invaluable in both our professional and personal lives in the process.
A tap, swipe and a pinch was all that was needed to surf the net and browsing became far easier with the ability to view websites on our phones as they were designed to be seen, enabling users to zoom in and expand upon the most relevant areas. Search capability was also quicker than ever before through the increased performance speeds that Apple had achieved. The iPhone combined a phone, iPod and powerful internet tool allowing users to search, purchase and wirelessly download third-party apps directly onto the device. Within 5 years of the introduction of the App Store in 2008, over 40 billion app downloads had taken place with library of over 900,000 apps available to users.
Transferring of data and syncing devices was made easy with iPhone technology, countless other helpful options and applications were just a tap away, with early innovations including Maps used for identifying user’s locations and receiving directions to a required destination or identifying nearby places of interest, all made simple by the new multi-touch interface designed by Apple. As Cloud technology developed users could manage every aspect of their mobile needs via their iPhone reducing downtime and offering total flexibility in the working environment, syncing devices and accessing whatever is needed with speed, reliability and security all part of the package.
Apple gave us a natural language user interface with the introduction of SIRI the intelligent personal assistant, which directly answers user’s questions and actions requests, whether it’s a telephone number, directions or a recommendation.
How we use the internet changed forever when Steve Jobs introduced us to the iPhone, it allows us to surf and shop, remain constantly up to date with all communications including social media and the latest developments around the world, wherever and whenever we need to.
Think of something you need or want to do and more than likely there is an app ready and waiting for you, iPhone revolutionised mobile phones and with each model that is released we are rewarded with yet more innovative technology and increased performance that exceeds our expectations.
