Anticipating Apple’s Mysterious September 9th Event
Followers of the tech scene are currently practically counting down the days until September the ninth, anticipating what is being heralded the biggest Apple announcement since the introduction of the iPad in 2010. Speculation as to what will or won’t be announced on the momentous day abounds – and as usual, Apple are maintaining a mysterious silence. People like an enigma. What’s going on with Apple fans is reminiscent of the reaction of chocolate lovers in the children’s masterpiece, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with crowds straining to be the first to see what has been kept from them for too long…
We decided to explore some of the rumours currently circulating online about what is to unfold on September 9th. One thing most sources agree on is that it is almost certain the new iPhone will be unveiled at the event. This device, the iPhone 6, is as yet uncertain territory to most but there is a lot of talk about it taking the notion of mobile payment systems one step further. This seems likely given the capacities of iOS8 and due to Apples increased forays into business with devices such as iBeacons for advertising on the go.
It has also been suggested that the new iPhone will be available in two sizes, allowing Apple to compete with the likes of Samsung who usually release phones of more than one size with somewhat differing specs. Most seen to think the likely screen sizes are 4.7 inch and 5.5 inches – even the smaller of which is larger than the current 4 inch display on the 5S and 5c. It is also thought the screens may be made entirely from sapphire crystal, making them the strongest to date. The names which will distinguish the two models seem to be causing as much intrigue as the products themselves at the moment, with numerous theories out there. Aside from the screen and overall size, it is thought that great leaps will have been made in battery life and that the iPhone could contain a quad core processor.
The iPhone 6 aside, it is possible that other Apple devices will be introduced to an eager audience on the same day. One of these is probably the iWatch, about which not much is really known. Like many other wearable devices with connectivity to smartphones, it is likely to enable certain communications and health monitoring applications.
Whatever these products are like – and whatever they are called – it seems likely they will be at the top of a lot of people’s wish lists until they appear on sale. For the phones, the sale date is thought to be the 19th of this month. We may have to wait longer for the wearable device…
