Google recently announced in a post on the Webmaster Central Blog, that from April 21st, the search giant will begin using mobile usability as a ranking factor in mobile search. With the ever-increasing number of searches carried out on mobile devices, it was only a matter of time before Google started to use mobile usability as a ranking factor in its mobile search results.

Google claims this change will have a big impact on search results, ensuring that mobile users will be offered the best search results for their particular device. This is bad news for any sites that are difficult to read or are not responsive on a mobile device, as from the end of April, they are likely to see their rankings drop in mobile search results.
